Ancient Egyptian princess Nefertiri is fiercely devoted to her people. Slated to inherit the throne and also the Phoenix Soul once she becomes queen, she's devastated when her kingdom is invaded by rebels. Much more so when she discovers her entire heritage and royal bloodline is a fraud. Injured and driven from the palace following grueling battle, she takes refuge within an oasis village where she's rehabilitated by the Healer - once she convinces him not to take her life. Even so, she's stuck between a rock and a hard place, agonizing over whether she should fight to rescue her people, who will in all likelihood turn on her once the truth of her family's deception comes out. Unable and unwilling to abandon them, she slowly builds her own great army to rescue them from grisly death or, best case scenario, a life of utter torture and hell. Meanwhile, inexplicably, the Phoenix Soul has risen, searching for her even though she is not queen. There can only be one plausible explanation and it isn't favorable. It seeks to destroy her because she's an imposter. In the harrowing cliffhanger conclusion of this first book in the Phoenix Soul series, Nefertiri faces the unrelenting soul head on.

A Song of Faithless Shadows
Gwyneth had always felt connected to her faith, a higher power presiding over her. That faith had shaken that devastating day those years ago, the day that went on to haunt her every nightmare for years to come. She's still trying to come back from it, to not only restore her faith in life and love, but her faith in herself. The sanctity of her spirit- she prayed for resolve. Every punch was a prayer. Every mile was a hymn. Until her knuckles bled and her knees gave. Azriel had been surrounded by darkness his whole life, a poison on his world, on his being. He exercised restraint in his every waking moment, banishing that darkness within himself. Some guessed of the strain it put on him, but no one knew the extent of it, how deep his scars ran. It was better this way, he was sure. He had always thought that if there were a higher power- which he wholly doubted- such deities must loathe him to have burdened him such darkness. He hadn't much faith in the gods anyway, much less faith that he could sway their opinion on him. But Gwyneth and Azriel did have one thing in common: the quiet fight within themselves. They only knew one way: to go about it alone, couldn't fathom letting another in. But there's a magic in finding someone who is your equal but opposite, something transforming. A year has passed since Seren Marzena returned to the Night Court with her mate, Azriel. Their time of rest is coming to an end. Plans long kept silent are now being enacted. All across Prythian, threats are revealing themselves. The three Mortal Queens have returned and pledged their allegiance to Koschei, an ancient god who is determined to see Prythian crumble beneath him.
