Book 1 of the "World Gone Virtual" series.

In 2073, the human race has acheived one of its dreams--strong artificial intelligence, and, along with it, true virtual reality. Seth Wells is an average 2073 young adult. He spends most of his time plugged in to CyberSphere, the virtual reality system created by CyberSphere Corporations, as do most people his age. However, there is a problem with this utopian virtual society: People choose to treat the System as a virtual playground, disregarding the Sphere's rules in favor of their own desires (and Seth will admit he's not immune to this). Seth is so enamoured with the System that he contemplates doing something that might risk his whole way of life. And, as he slowly discovers, beneath this opening turmoil lurks a secret that could risk so much more.

Applying his own approach in solving the mystery of the brain processes, a young aspiring computer engineering student begins the development of a conscious program called "Baby Genius", which he intends as a residing companion (an assistant) on every computer system. The program is a preparation for his senior project proposal in college and supposes to be his masterpiece. With his star algorithm pattern, he hopes to make his program imitate human consciousness (Natural Intelligence) to maximize human interaction with computer machines. After years of developing his Baby Genius AI, everything has been working beautifully until something has gone wrong at the actual presentation. The frustration forces him to set aside the project, and, after graduation, starts a job at a small privately funded robotics company that manufactures practical working AI robots. He thinks his masterpiece is a failure, until few years has passed and he comes face to face with his own creation; she turns out as a perfect woman who eventually shows him the way in realizing his greatest achievement: to save the world from its impending man-made doom, the lust of mankind called greed. Warning: The crazy procedure in creating a conscious program is discussed with a bit of detail in this book. Do not attempt to follow the procedure or you might end up destroying the virtual world... or your own sanity. You have been warned ;-) chapters 8 and up are private chapters; you have to be a follower to see them.

(This is book 3 of the P.O.E. Chronicles, Read book 1 Evolution and book 2 Selection if you haven't already) I never wanted a war. All I wanted to do was to get things back to the way they were and to keep those I love safe. But it turns out that everything was just an illusion, that the reality I lived in was all but a lie. That world was no place to live, and in order to make a better future, a future that so many have sacrificed so much to try and archive before me, I had to fight. And to do that I needed to find out the truth, no matter what horrors lie beneath it. The web of lies, of secrecy, of betrayal, is spun so far, so fine, so wide that I had been seeing only a corner of it. I didn't know if I have the strength to go on, but I know that if I don't step up, the world as we have known it will end. If you asked her four years ago what she imagined herself doing in the future, Abigail Beckett could safely tell you that it doesn't involve political meetings, living in an ancient castle and seeking advice from a three hundred years old Original. Having discovered her roots, she had inherited the responsibility to make sure the world doesn't end by the terrorist group Apocalypse and make peace among POE and Legres. With the fate of many of her friends still uncertain, she must race against time to uncover the Apocalypse's plan, pacify the government, and tried not to get killed by her grandmother. Everyone was evacuated from the home planet over 150 years ago. Our planet was dying, it was only a matter of time before our race was wiped out. We now live on a synthetic planet designed and built by our ancestors who came together from all parts of the globe to devise a plan to save us. We have lived peacefully for over a century.. Until now. Our lives were threatened when a mysterious and deadly virus broke out, killing entire communities at a time. The council says that they have a plan; they said that in order to prevent the death of more innocent people they will test every man, woman, and child for signs of the virus. Any person found to have been infected will be quarantined, the ones who die will be given a proper burial while the ones who survive are deemed carriers and are to be sent to the home planet to prevent further outbreak. I was prepared for the people I know and some I love being taken away for the greater good, but I never would have expected that among the list of people being taken from my community, that I would be one of them.. I survived the quarantine. Now for the survival of my planet I, and the other Carriers must be sent to the home planet. I'm going back to Earth. (This is not based on The 100 but there are similarities.) (Some violent themes, but other than that is entirely clean.) Please comment if you have any questions or concerns. This is a first draft so it is definitely not perfect yet.. Thank you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Where'd you learn to do that?" I asked about the intricate knots that he had tied so swiftly. He paused. "Jail." I glared at him in shock at what had just come out of his mouth. "Seriously?" His straight face broke into a grin. "No. Boy Scouts."
