-Tales after the End of the World-
An ongoing collection of short stories in the Post Apocalypse. The world has ended but people persist. Haunted by the ruins and tools of the Old World they must survive. Zombies, Robots, Mutants, Radiation and Desperation plague the world. 

Yet it is not our world and has not been since the 1770's. A divergent history lead to a gleaming high tech future and then it all burned. 

These tales are set in the same world as my upcoming novel; these short stories and novellas are part of the same universe. 

Each chapter or part will be a separate short story unless noted otherwise. 

Some of these stories are set before or during the events of the novel. These tales are works in progress and subject to change, revision and even outright removal at my whims.

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. The zombie apocalypse is coming. A scientist at the CDC has that terrifying realization when infected victims start displaying the symptoms predicted by his model. A virus responsible for hemorrhagic fevers is mutating into something that zombifies its victims instead of killing them. Realizing the only hope is to get ahead of it, he sets out to create a vaccine, but to create a vaccine he needs a sample of the virus. He tries to enlist the aid of a colleague to help him create the very virus he wants to eradicate, but she refuses on ethical grounds. Witnessing the horrific transformation of an infected patient forces her to reconsider, but before they can start working on a vaccine, their virus samples are stolen. As they criss-cross the country on a hunt for a cure, the paths of the two scientists cross those of a shadow organization on a secret mission, and a loose-knit network of zombie prepper groups whose loyalties are unclear. I am editing The Z Contingency for an updated edition, and I thought Wattpad would be a good platform to get improvements suggested by readers.
