Sixteen-year-old Lily Thompson's memories began with being covered in someone else's blood and a red-eyed boy leading her out of the forest.

Not long after being found, Lily is taken away from the dark forest of Romania, where she was found, to the cold lands of Alaska. Not wanting to linger in the past, where questions won't be answered, Lily tries to move forward to live everyday life as possible. She wants to graduate high school, go to college with lots of sun, and fall in love. But the past isn't ready to let her go, and any hope of "normal" vanishes when the mysterious Rowan Tępęs shows up on the first day of junior year. And he just happened to be the boy who saved her all those years ago, and he's been looking for her. And in a blink of an eye, Lily's hope of everyday life is gone. Rowan is the key to unlocking what happened to her; the only question is, why is he hiding it?

But Rowan isn't the only one who has been searching for Lily, his father has been wanting her, and he will do anything to get her, and Rowan will do anything to keep her away from him.
