Aerin of Isegal is a serf-born mutt. With no parents to boot, he has been passed around and been left alone to fend for himself. He was taught that everyday, your duty as an able-bodied person is to work to feed yourself and pay off your taxes to that ruling lord. Having been born into a country that resents the very core of dark arts, he has found himself in the middle of a conflict both inside, an innate sense of magic from a mysterious source, and out, an inquisition that is hunting the very filth they believe magic to be. Captured for his abilities, he finds companionship he's never dreamed of having in the solace of being a prisoner. His mind knows he will be not easily removed, but his heart yearns for something more, someone. It's only when his loyalties are put into question does he have a choice to make: to lead safely with his mind or to follow the danger of his heart?
