Gilly Rivers is a nobody. He's always been a nobody, and life in the rotten, decadent, corrupt city of Paradise Rise is only getting worse. That's why when he loses the only thing that matters, he's ready to give up. It's not long before he finds himself on the roof ready to end it. Only his attempted suicide finds him crash-landing right into the hero known as Glitch, after which he's brought toward D.A.R.E. the greatest hero organization in the world. It's there he's presented with the opportunity for revenge. With the opportunity to become a hero. The only problem is that Gilly isn't a hero. He's never been a hero. And revenge is dish best served by better men.

(DISCLAIMER: This is the fourth book. Origin City: Summer Break is the one before this one, so I hope you checked that out first.) My name is Pulse, other's may know me as Jarahn. It's been three years since the defeat of J.D....and three years since I lost the very thing I valued more than this city...more than this mission, more than me...Karen. The loss was too much for me to bear...and just when I thought I could grieve with my team- I couldn't. I just can't. So...I left. Pulse has been a solo act for three years and I can't lie...it's felt much better this way. No one to tell me what to do, how to plan, or how I should fight the thugs that cause so much trouble. NO one to lose, cause they're not around me anymore. I just figured it'd be better that way- for all of us. The crime rate has been down significantly and I've been closing cases left and right...but of course something else had to come up. Something that I thought I could handle alone...
