Ever since Jack crawled out of that frozen pond, Pitch has been there. A partner, in more ways than one. The relationship they share, while twisted and wildly unhealthy, is the only thing Jack has. When a new ragtag group of spirits shows up, Jack sees what life is supposed to be and gets a glimpse of what love is supposed to look like. He grapples with this contradiction and what it might mean for his relationship with Pitch.
