She almost couldn't remember the last time she'd been able to use her given name. There'd been the six months in deep undercover in Chicago. Before that, four years on special assignment with the FBI. Every night, to try to ground herself in reality, Imogen repeated in her mind the names of the friends she'd left behind.

Jay Halstead. Will Halstead. A handful of others from Organized Crime. The list went on. It felt better to count memories than sheep as she lay in dirty motel beds or in sealed white vans.

But as the six months came to an end, Imogen found her own name strange to use. She'd been another person for so long. Returning to reality in Chicago could prove to be more challenging than she expected. She only hopes that being surrounded by other first responders will make her the transition a little easier.
