Skylar Abbott has known Niall Horan since the two were young. They grew up together, laughed together, hung out together. They did everything together. They shared the same passion for music, and planned on one day auditioning for the X Factor.

However, days before the two would head for the auditions, Skylar realizes that she is unable to do it, and backs out, deeply hurting Niall.

Niall gets mad, and she's left even more hurt than he ever was.

The two of them don't speak for years. During that time, Skylar meets her best friend, Ashlyn Maccoy, and the pair meet three other boys that will eventually play major roles in their lives.
