Obi's backstory is a mystery to everyone. What really did happen to him after that last tough job? Did he settle down with a family? Did he just disappear for a while? Prince Zen finally pulls the story out of Obi on a drunken night. The past comes to light as more drinks are had. So yes, I'll drink to remember.
This is a fairly short story, and it isn't really a happy one. Buckle up, this will probably hurt your feelings. I do not own any of the Snow White With The Red Hair characters. (I got the cover photo from google, I don't know the creator.)

I push up slowly, still dizzy. A hand pulls me up. I sluggishly swing at it in an attempt to escape. They catch my hand and squeeze my wrist forcing me to drop my knife. They swing me into a cradle position. My stomach jumps to my mouth and I press my face against the person holding me. Pine forest fills my nose. I lean back into Obi. "Thank you," I whisper. "I don't need your thanks," is his rough answer. I try to ask what I did to deserve such a response but I don't.
