"Everyone under the tables. NOW." Collison Middle School had never had a lockdown during lunch before. And this was definitely not a drill. "Ugh! So uncomfortable right now!" Taylor complains next to Chloe. Chloe nods in agreement. "Chloe Jackson. To the front office please." Mrs. Ambernathy, assistant principal, announces. A pallor takes over Chloe's face, but she complies and squirms out of the crammed space under the table. Minutes tick by, soon leading up to a half hour spent in lockdown. "Alright it's all clear! You may all stay to finish your lunch before next period." Mrs. Ambernathy informs the cafeteria. The rest of the environment returns to life before lockdown, but the six girls remaining at the lunch table—where Chloe sat—are visibly worried. And they won't go down without a fight. ☯ [ this story is being written as a group! You might like some chapters over others, but that is because we all have different writing styles ;) ]

|| WATTYS 2021 SHORTLIST || The day Olivia Byrne met Benjamin Cross, her day was going almost to plan... until he showed up. But it also could have gone so many different ways. In her summer holidays between university terms, Olivia finds herself lost in the library, researching all sorts of creatures for her latest writing project. The last thing she expected was to find love amidst the shelves filled with fables, myths, and fairytales. But lurking behind Benjamin's dreamy blue eyes lies a secret that Olivia may not be prepared for. Jumping head first into the world of vampires, witches, fairies, and shapeshifters, Olivia finds herself in a battle to become the hero of her own story, or to succumb to her past and be, forever, vulnerable. Will Olivia's journey through magic, love, friendship, and heartache see her story become one immortalised in fairytales? Or will her story belong in the pages of cautionary fables?
