Valeriu Agarici is a nineteen year old girl from Romania. After the death of her parents and the abandonment from her foster family, she is whisked away to an orphanage in England, where her cancer quickly catches up to her. Upon exploring with her friends in a cemetery, she stumbles upon an old grave with a double headstone, presumably for a husband and wife- but the other side was empty. Before death captures her last breath, Val's last wish is to be buried next to the lonely woman, Lucinda Rosenberg, to keep her company. And after Val's departure, her wish is fulfilled.
What she did not expect, however, was to wake up next to Lucinda in the so called afterlife. Val is thrown into a new world, Purgatory, where souls who haven't done enough good or bad are placed for further judgement. Only one problem; Val was gifted with yellow eyes, meaning her reason for ending up in this new world was special, and unknown. She must learn and meet the conditions of Purgatory to survive, all while understanding her new powers, as well as the new population of people surrounding her, and searching for answers for how she ended up here. Alongside Lucinda, her accidental partner in death, they both strive to protect the citizens of the afterlife from Hell's demons and Heaven's fallen angels, as well as each other. Full of surprises and charming characters, Eyes of Affinity is an emotionally charged, action-packed, twisted tale about one girl's determination to change her fate, for the sake of her betrothed.
