Communicating that knowledge to someone else is different than telling them with step by step verbal instructions. That gives you an idea of how Buddy's people communicate with each other - a physic message that combines images, feelings, and information all rolled into one. His is a biped species that has no technology, no obvious villages, and no words. Buddy is separated from the Big Ones (teens to grown-ups who have achieved the final growth-stage for his kind). Buddy and his group of Small Ones (toddlers to pre-teens) are in great danger. Being a Small One in the first stages of growth, Buddy is not capable of defending himself. The Small One, who will eventually be known as Buddy, reaches out for the adults who can protect him and his group of Small Ones from the new threat that invaded their idyllic start on life.
