I sighed as I looked at my mate, the dimple on his left cheek showing as he laughed at a joke one of the other pack members were saying.
I had known Jake for almost as long as I could remember, our parents being friends and neighbours kinda making that impossible to avoid.
I still remembered my 10th birthday like it was yesterday...
"I have another surprise..." he had whispered in my ear, "We're mates."
I could remember feeling so happy, my best friend was my mate! I love him. He loves me. So why do I suddenly feel like theres something missing?
I look over at the other pack mates, my friends, all with their mates, they look at each other with such adoration and love; their eyes glossing over as they look at their mates. Their eyes hold a thousand words of love and promise.
