What happens to a young Harpy, that does not seem to fit in?

Growing up, Everleigh Lightfeather is one of the higher pure blood harpies, but she struggles being bigger then the other female harpies.  Chosen, for her bloodline only, the Nest Leader's son selects her to have the honor of being his chosen mate.

Ever would rather have her truemate, then be submitted to a loveless mating.  A mating  just for her blood's sake.  What happens when this comes out at his birthday ball? With shifter royals from other communities there? As, the birthday boy tries to claim her as his chosen?

Well, she ends up punished.

Sent to a Dragon Guard Trials, see all other breeds have to submit so many of their kind to do a pantheon of tests to see if they are good enough to be a member of the Dragon's Guard.  An Elite group of shifters made and trained to protect the Dragon's that rule over all the other shifters.

Many never come back from the Guard Trials.

And even more end up dead.
