Raven and her little brother Jonathan live in a small village just on the edge of The Wastelands, Raven being the only caregiver to Jonathan and just barely 18 struggles to keep their ruined apartment and put food on the table. Whilst doing barmaid work in the villages tavern she hears about the City of Minerva requesting local towns and villages to volunteer as troops to push back the orcs that have invaded the city borders, Raven jumps on the opportunity and makes sure all her wages from the army go straight to her neighbor who's looking after her brother in her absence. When the war is over, and the troops are free to return home, Raven finds herself left in a ruined village with embers still licking at burnt wooden beams. Her village was raided, and she has no idea where Jonathan is, and if he is even alive still.
