Luke comes to Annabeth and says he loves her and he never meant to leave her, blah, blah, blah... and Annabeth believes him. Luke then uses Annabeth to get to Percy, giving the titans an advantage in the war, and he then leaves Annabeth for a second time. Annabeth feels stupid and is heartbroken, causing her to enter a depression.
