دو کشور بزرگ اروپا در حال جنگند. علت فوری این وضعیت، گسترش ناتو و طرح آن برای محدود ساختن امپراتوری رقیب خود، روسیه، با ایجاد پایگاه‌های بزرگ نیرو و سلاح‌های کشتار جمعی در امتداد مرزهای غربی و جنوبی آن و تسلیح و آموزش گسترده نیروها و شبه نظامیان اوکرائینی، به ویژه به وسیله انگلیس، بوده است. روشن است که این طبقات کارگر روسیه و اوکرائین هستند که سنگین‌ترین هزینه را در این درگیری نظامی ادامه‌دار خواهند پرداخت. حزب کمونیست ایرلند همبستگی خود را با طبقات کارگر روسیه و اوکرائین و با کمونیست‌های هر دو کشور اعلام می‌کند، و ما در غم و اندوه سربازان و خانواده‌های آن‌ها، قربانیان جنگ درون-امپریالیستی شریک هستیم.
