Rock is an ordinary fisherman who works as a harpooner on a sky ship. One day, he finds an egg that hatches into a fairy, turning him into a "technomage," someone with an innate magical power and understanding of the magical language known as "Scode." He finds a mentor in an old man, named Orion. However, the Empire does not like mages. The Empire attacks his family and kidnaps his sister. Rock joins Orion and his uncle Jak to rescue her and possibly save the world.
