He's had enough of Katsuki's bullying and enough of his parents abusing him in many ways.
He decides to run away. Running away was most definitely going to give him peace, right?

No.
Well, to us it would be the most corrupt thing in the world, nowhere near peace, but to Izuku it was pure bliss. The screams and cries were music to his ears, but in the victim's eyes, he loved it.
He loved the way he was tortured, and the pain was delightful.
