After the meeting on Olympus that would officially declare the Second Titan War over, everyone went back to Camp Half Blood to wrap their summer up before they go back home.
But when Annabeth confesses her not-so-subtle feelings for Percy, she isn't the only one that was surprised to hear that the son of Poseidon didn't return the feelings.
And while he just told her that he loved her- just not in that way, that wasn't the only reason he said no.
He can't admit it to himself yet, though. Where his feelings are directed towards- who they're directed towards.
Because although Gabe is dead, the memories of him are still fresh.
And Gabe didn't raise a fruitcake.

"The other side Nico! We will see you there. Understand?" Nico's eyes widened. "But-" "Lead them there!" Percy shouted. "Promise me!" „I-, I will." All around, he could hear the others shouting and running to help. All too late, Percy and Annabeth were gone. Suddenly, Nico heard another sound. A strange crackling was increasingly more and more prominent, until it drowned the voices of the remaining five. Before he realized what was happening, the ground beneath his torso was crumbling away, larger and larger pieces were disappearing in the hungry darkness below. Nico did not have time to react.
