"What are you doing here?" He finally asked.

For a split second, I considered playing dumb but quickly thought better of it. Donovan? Dumb? Ha! Not a good combo. So instead, I decided to tell the truth without telling the truth.

"School."

From the reflection, I could see a spark of irritation flash through his eyes.

"What are you doing here?" He asked again, putting the emphasis on 'here'.

Ah. Now this question would be harder to avoid. I'd already used "school" and I don't think "It's my car." would go over too well.

I held back a sigh. "Mom thought you wouldn't mind a familiar face and I thought it would be cool to spend our, well, my, last year of school together."

Although neither of them would ever admit, that's the only reason why I know of her. I don't want to attend a school where I'm going to have to forsake who I truly am just to fit into their liking. How can I explain that to my mom when she sees everything to be black and white.
