Kiyomi and Kaía

Francisco Vieva was a tremendously talented world wide known Brazilian singer until he died of cholera in 1983, leaving his 6 year old daughter, Kaía Veiva, alone in a Rio de Janeiro favela for countless years filled with trauma and endless misery. But the terrible experience of being a homeless child on brutal Brazilian streets calms down once she meets Kiyomi Mikan, a young tween girl from Japan in 1989. Together, without the presence of family figures, friends, and just each other, they face crime, prejudice, love, and death for years on end. Only the future holds where they'll end up, and all you can hope is that it'll turn out good.
