    A dangerous game becomes deadly. No direction, no mountains to hide behind, and nothing but expectations for how Llwell plans to lead the Restoration out of the ashes. With the Hollow and his followers still alive, maybe Tessiavar will finally listen to reason.
    
    But with the Obsidian Empire, reason often leads to chaos. There's only so much one elf can do to stop the approaching damage of forces much stronger than he will ever be. So it's a good thing he's not alone.
    
    Llwell, Dumaine and Etho survived the fall of Ayiolas. Next step: Negotiating with Tessiavar. But in the Obsidian Empire, there's little to no difference between a dangerous game and a foolish mistake. All they can do is hope to keep this house of cards from tumbling down.
