My cousin always referred to us as the bad jokes, as in...a blonde, a brunette and a redhead walk into a bar. I'm the redhead, and this is my story.
When I was 18, a psychic told me to wait for the man with the scar.
For five years I waited and then suddenly, there he was in front of me one night. No mistake -- this was the man.
We got off to a bad start, and I just kept making things worse chasing after him.
Until he let me know in no uncertain terms that he wasn't interested in me.
So I gave him what he wanted and ignored him.
Then he decided he wanted me.
And him getting me back was the least of our problems.

"Smoking is bad for you," he husks next to my ear, squeezing the flesh of my hips before he lets me go and quits the butt of the cigarette with his shoe. With a swift motion I turn the tables, pressing him against the wall this time. My forearm on his throat, holding the tall man in place. I have to throw my head back to look him in the eyes and I have no idea where I've got the courage from, but my temper gets the best of me as I have enough of his games. "You know what's bad for you, darling? Taking me by 120 million dollars." His head dips down to mine, hovering over me. My stomach flutters, and my knees are getting weak from the simple gesture. "Sucks to get a taste of your own medicine, no, love?" He murmers, scanning my face. "You know, you could make all of this stop. Just say the words." His hot breath is fanning over my face as he whispers the next words: "Say you're sorry. 'I'm sorry, sir'. Three words and this war is over." .•● ✧ ●•. One month after Gina's wedding, things get out of hand between Sophia Romano and Avan Kobayashi when they both fight for the top position. Stubborn as they are their little fight for an apology, mixed with a sprinkle of lust and passion, results in something way bigger than their egos. .•● ✧ ●•. NOT a standalone!

I felt the bed dip as he sat down on the other side but I focused solely on my task until I was done. "This is a pillow barrier. Meaning, you don't breach this side of the pillows." I instructed, my voice firm. "What if I don't want anything between us?" Phoenix said in a husky voice, and I risked a glance. Bad choice. His eyes were dark and his gaze was on my lips, to my chest, then back to my lips. "Eyes up here, buddy." I snapped the third time his eyes went down to my chest. All he did was turn off the lights. When it was dark, he whispered," Can't I admire what is mine?" I had no answer, and turned on my side. He sighed. Despite taking two naps today, I was out cold the minute my head hit my pillow. I could only hope that in the morning, the pillow barrier was still there. ***** Adira has a secret, one she would do anything to protect. She's built barriers around her heart, so strong that only the most powerful force could break them down. Adira was an Alpha's daughter, 19 years old, and didn't want a mate. She was too focused on figuring out what her deadly secret meant for her and those she loved. When she discovered her mate was Alpha Phoenix, she was sure the Moon Goddess was trying to punish her. As truths unfold and loyalty is put to the test, her secret comes to light. Those she loves and the ones who would hurt her without a second thought find out, and she finds out a certain Twin has her in his sights. Will she open up to Phoenix? Will he break down her walls? Especially not the type of romance that novelist Elisa Gilmore writes about. Stalkers? Bodyguards? Office rivals? Puh-leeze! Determined to prove to her that cheesy tropes aren't the way to a woman's heart, he acts out everything she's written... but will he lose his own heart in the process? 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: Enemies to Lovers ✓ Only One Bed ✓ Fake Dating ✓ Forced Proximity ✓ Guy Falls First ✓ Stalking ✓ Boss's Brother ✓ Masked Man ✓ Kidnapping ✓ Trapped in an Elevator ✓ Stranded ✓ + More 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁: "This is your chance. Run." Elisa crossed her arms. "No. I'm not scared of him." Darien glared at her impatiently. "Fine. If you won't run from him, then run from me." "Excuse me?" "Here's another one of your tropes: I catch you, I kiss you." "That's not the trope! It's supposed to be 'I catch you, I...'" Elisa cleared her throat and paraphrased, "'...ravish you.'" The corner of his lip quirked. "'Ravish'?" "Shut up, I'm just correcting you." He stepped closer, his eyes burning into her. "Do you want an upgrade? Because I'm down for that if you are." "I don't even want the kiss!" His eyes widened. "Then...run."

'No, he didn't'. I was so shocked by the turn of events. Everything was going fine and then suddenly boom, everything turned upside down. I just couldn't believe this. What did he think of himself? 'Leave me alone.' I said firmly but his hold on me was so strong. I was struggling to get out of his bear hold but to no avail. 'Oh!! So, the poor lady thinks that I will leave her alone and just let her go free?' He had that evil laugh and boy, his breath stank. 'Man, you just signed your death warrant and I will do one favour on you.' No one messes with me. 'Ooooh, I am so scared that I almost peed my pants.' Again that idiotic laugh. I counted till 5 and then kicked right in his balls. I turned around and grabbed his hair from roots, jerked them so badly and then gave my hard elbow shot on his chin. Everything happened so fast for one moment he was standing and the other lying on floor wiggling. I charged at him with my cheetah speed, picked up a wooden rod and started hitting him wildly, 'You idiotic stinky breath was trying to steal my backpack. You are so dead.' 'Favour, favour, favour.' He was screaming in pain just after few seconds and was panting hard. I picked my paste from my bag and threw at him, 'Brush your teeth.' I was fuming. I turned around and saw him standing wide-eyed, 'Hi, I am Scarlett.' I smiled showing my 32 teeth. 'I am scared.' His look puzzled me. C O M P L E T E D "Date me," he spins the whiskey around in the glass and fixes me with a smirk. I roll my eyes the moment the words roll off his tongue. "Are you really that desperate?" I scoff in response, fighting back the ever prominent blush. His smirk widens as my face flushes red and he leans over the countertop towards me. I step back. "Name your price," he replies, his words cool and smooth like ice cream. Only I would reference food at a moment like this. Anger rolls around in the pit of my stomach; I may not have money but I have morals. "You can't buy people, Grant," The words fall out of my mouth and he recoils as if slapped. I'm glad. Stupid rich boy and his player ways. "Bet I can," I resist the urge to slap the smug look of his face and scoff again. "Right," I drag out the word, rolling my eyes. I step away from the counter and turn my back on him, desperate to leave. But he speaks again. "Date me. Two months. If you fall for me for my money, I win. If I fall for you for who you really are, you win." I consider this for a moment. I have nothing to loose and really not much to gain. But I'm so desperate to put the asshole in his place that I can't resist. I'm a sucker for a bet. "Deal."
