Stuck in the Closet

The kid staring back at him looked a bit younger, dark eyes bewildered and wide as saucers. For a moment the two sat there, staring at each other. Will cleared his throat, face burning. "H-hey," he choked out.
The boy blinked at him, eyes widening in confusion. "Hi," he said. His voice threw Will off. It was deeper than he'd expected.
"So, uh." Will cleared his throat again. "Whatcha doing here?"
The boy let out a puff of air through his nose, like a scoff mixed with a laugh. "Are you running from someone?" he asked.
"What? No," Will said.
"Then why did you slam the door? You're super loud. You know the goal of hiding in the janitor's closet is to not be found?"
