This city is a mess.

First of all, the police are hilariously unsuccessful in arresting a highly criminal nightclub owner. The media are ensuring everyone knows, resulting in city-wide romanization of crime. Second of all, the city's star detective is currently struggling to understand why that nightclub owner- a certifiable genius with a record-breaking intelligence score- chose the criminal lifestyle over, say, being a NASA engineer. And that brilliant criminal's boyfriend is equally confused over why she consistently takes unnecessary risks. This spiderweb of crime has been spun so far that even that detective's ex-fiancé, a bumbling idiot who also has custody over his daughter, is getting involved. So is that bartender who works for that criminal, and so is that detective's boss. And while all that happens, another criminal- most definitely not a certifiable genius- is ready to rip the spiderweb apart.

In truth, it doesn't matter what they say about you while you're still here. It matters what they say about you long after you're gone.

#11 IN ACTION (PARIS) Buried deep below the everyday life of our society lives a world of nightmares-of violence and murder no one dares speak about. It is called the Sinner's Society. In the murky waters of Chicago's underworld I'm arranged to marry Alexander Grayson. A Made Man, a boss, a cheat-even measured against mafia standards. His reputation stretches far and wide and is darker than his black suits and ties. He is the man who rules Sinner's Society. He is my half brother. Oh yes, he is. A man I've grown up loving and admiring. A man with unexplained wealth, tattoos on his hands, and secrets in his pale blue eyes. I'm raised to be a romantic at heart, living in the most unromantic of worlds. I'm taught to be docile, to smile on cue and to have a charming response for everything. I'm the favored son, they say, the perfect mafia prince. . . or am I? Now, all I can see in the mirror's reflection is blood staining my hands like crimson paint. I was supposed to be perfect wife, the perfect lover but I don't know when did I became the perfect killer. He had to go and kill the one person I loved the most. I don't know what did he expect from me? To still love him unconditionally? My husband is as brilliant as he is beautiful, and twice as deadly. His chaotic world is now the prison I'm forced to call home. A place where nightmares and reality are indistinguishable. (ALEX) My little half-brother or Wife is going to pour gasoline on our Paradise and burn it to the ground. The glib, heartbreakingly beautiful monster will torment me into lighting the first match. He knows all of my secrets, but he's forgetting that I know his too. If we burn, we burn together. Can Paris trust a heartless, manipulative sociopath? Can a man who doesn't feel fall in love?
Shadows of deceit by upbeatguy23
20 parts Complete Mature
In the gritty underbelly of a sprawling, neon-lit metropolis, a complex web of power, crime, and intrigue weaves its way through the city's heart. This is a mafia story, a tale of organized crime that unfolds in the shadows, where loyalty is as deadly as betrayal, and power is the ultimate currency. At the center of this seedy underworld is a charismatic and enigmatic mob boss, a figure whose influence extends far beyond the boundaries of legality. This mafia don is a master of manipulation, shrouded in an aura of charm that belies a ruthless and cunning mind. His empire stretches from illicit gambling dens to the drug trade, from extortion rackets to underground fight clubs. The city itself becomes a character in the story, its alleys and backstreets concealing secrets, and its towering skyscrapers casting long shadows over the criminal enterprises that flourish within. The juxtaposition of opulence and decay is striking, as glamorous penthouses overlook squalid tenements, and the echoes of power are heard amid the sirens and gunshots. The story's protagonists are a motley crew of characters, each with their own moral compass and motivations. A disillusioned detective, haunted by the memory of a loved one lost to the mafia's clutches, is determined to bring down the boss and dismantle the syndicate. Alongside him, a conflicted lawyer finds herself torn between her duty to uphold the law and her loyalty to a childhood friend entangled in the mafia's web. As the plot unfolds, alliances are forged and broken, betrayals and vendettas fuel the narrative, and the line between right and wrong blurs into shades of gray. Family ties, whether by blood or loyalty, play a pivotal role, as characters grapple with the choices they've made and the consequences that come with it.

Doin' It Right - [Undertale Mafia/Mob AU | Sans x Reader]

20 parts Ongoing

[Frisk's Mother Reader | Slow Burn] Monsters are free, and Frisk is safe and sound at home. It feels like fairy tales are real, though a rough break-up after eight years of marriage quickly sobers that thinking. With the break-up follows a proposal straight out of a steamy novel: share a room with a man you've just met, while you get back on your feet and work on the process of finding a new place to move into. Turns out, the guy who smells like grease and beer from how often he visits Grillby's is a lot less romantic than you would think. And it's precisely living together what gets you to know all the icky things about him. Until you end up falling for him with each nice little thing he does, and suddenly... It feels like all those icky things start to matter less and less. More so, when things take a sharp turn and you're in the middle of a gang fight, helping him however you can despite not knowing what you're signing up for. Overlooking details like bloody clothing, chipped teeth, and reports of missing people on the telly make seeing him drinking straight from the milk carton a much more tolerable offense.
