I guess the readers really liked the satisfaction of watching the female lead go through everything without any struggle and only assistance from the male leads.

Well, I was one of those readers, but I didn't like the female lead but I didn't hate her either.

That was my reaction when the poor villainess died, I couldn't read after that point and just skipped to the end. It was a really predictable ending by the way. The female lead ends up marrying all the male leads, since it was legal, and had their kids and lived happily ever after.
