Cassie is a magician with real magic. Some might call her a witch, but their idea of what that means is not anything like what she does. Anything technology might do, magic can do. Even tech that has not gotten invented as yet.

The illusion licenses true magicians to practice magic. Each county in New Hampshire has a single illusion and Cassie runs the Hillsborough County one. She teaches Computer Science at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.

Someone uses magic to rob banks. They broke illusion and human laws in doing so. Cassie and her team of investigators have to track the criminal down before the humans discover magic really exists.
