"Our Paper Crowns" follows multiple perspectives on a journey through a country built of danger ridden deserts, exotic jungles, and chaotic oceans. The story follows both their physical adventures, as well as their path to becoming their true selves in a court of military, political, and romantic intrigue as their country topples on the edge of brutal civil war. An uptight, wealthy boy searching for his sister must learn to trust a street rat and a convict, a sweet girl learns to stand up for herself and her secret beside her loud best friend, a young man struggles to judge his own morality and the morality of those he trusts, and a young show runner fights with himself on whether to protect his people or his future.
