In the land of Evanyl, there are only two classes: The rich and the poor, the upper and lower class, the posh and the peasants. There is no in between. The only ways you achieve either status is by birth or winning a brutal competition that will make the winner rich beyond his wildest dreams. The fights, however, are to the death, and the poor are forced to compete once every five years for the rich's amusement. The creator of this competition has passed, leaving his legacy to his only heir. This year's tournament will promise to have even more carnage and gore since Vyron Tamminalin is now in charge. He's more blood thirsty and vicious than his father and adds some twists to the rules of the competition.
Vyron has two daughters, Xera and Xori. Xera is the eldest and has the same cruel spirit of her father, but Xori is kind hearted and forced to watch every year as countless innocent people die just to entertain the wealthy. If she could ever find a way to leave this place or shut the competition down, she would in a heartbeat.
Zakyrik Ruequal was the only child of his parents, who passed a few years back. His father was forced to compete and died within the third round, then his mother passed a year later from a broken heart. Zakyrik had to take over the work his father did to pay the greedy landlord off where he would not be kicked out of his family home. He hates the competition and everything it stands for. He also detests fighting and yearns for a peaceful life away from Evanyl. This year though, as his luck would have it, he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and was hand picked to compete.
