Long ago, the four Nations lived together in harmony. Then the Fire Nation attacked. The world was about to change forever and for the airbenders, there would be no coming back. A hundred years after the war, all airbenders save for the Avatar are thought to be dead. But in one of the numerous cells of the Boiling Rock a young airbender named Jaya resides, keeping her identity a secret from all. A thief, a killer. A failure of an airbender. Fate plays a curious game, though, and even the most worthless of people may come to have a second chance. In Jaya's case, it all comes down to one question; how many good deeds are needed until she truly feels she's lived up to her ancestry? NOTES •Any characters that do not appear in Avatar: The Last Airbender belong to me. •The a:tla universe belongs to the creators. •This is a companion story to "The Pawn".

Fire is deadly and can leave a path of destruction along the way, fire can scar. But so can Water. Like Fire, water can freeze into ice and can leave many cuts and scars. Both can be deadly when misused. Water and Fire can't be too different. Or are they? Zuko is a fire bender, but not just any fire bender he is the son of the fire lord. Kadia is a water bender, the daughter of the village Chief. When events lead to Kadia being captured by the fire nation Prince she realises that although Fire and Water are often referred to as opposites, they might not be so different after all. Kadia learns to realises that the many lessons she learnt growing up where nothing but prejudice. Or where they? Can she get over her emotional scars and learn to heal? Or was everything she witnessed an elaborate act all along made by the fire prince and his uncle? An act to trick her in letting her guard down and betray her siblings and the Avatar. Will she be able to trust again or does this scar run too deep to heal? ZukoxOC -Follows the rough storyline of ATLA -Parts may not be in colonial order to fit the new storyline and deepen the plot -Pay attention cause I added my own twist! - I don't own the story of the Avatar the Last Airbender just this adaptation - HOPE YOU ENJOY!
