Have you heard of Emotional Design?
A design that adapts and foresees users' requirements and responses. It is a concept that allows you to create designs meant to evoke emotions for a positive user experience.
Wait, what does emotional interaction has to do with design?
Just like interaction design revolves around the interaction between users & products, this mechanism depicts the way emotions affect one another.
What are the three levels of cognitive responses you need to take care of when you design?
As users have sophisticated thought processes going on at most times, these three levels of cognitive responses must be addressed:
Visceral - Users' natural reactions or their first impressions of the designs they see. For instance, an uncluttered user interface suggests a quick and easy function.
Behavioral - Users should feel like they are in control with minimum effort needed.
Reflective - Users tend to form emotional bonds with the designs they like and how it makes them feel. If they are constantly happy with every given design, they tend to reflect it on people they know.
How do I apply it?
Create a signature personality to your work
Take advantage of colors and contrasts
Craft copy to accommodate emotions with the right tone.
Apply videos/sound to support messages.
Use storytelling
Attention to detail is the key
