The 'mafia' wasn't actually supposed to be what you know it as. It was an organization that people trusted, not feared. An organization that fought for justice and truth, not greed and power. It was an organization run by love, not fear. It was a family of brave whistle-blowers, not a hierarchy of backstabbing scum.
But something changed.
The Council- the twelve people who supervised and authorized the stands for justice taken by the individuals of the mafia- fell apart.
And things went awry.
This is a story about an assassin who pieces back the old ways, whistle-blows to bring back peace and vows to rid the universe of the evils that ruined her in the shadows. An assassin who hopes to come to peace with her past, but learns that she might have to face it a little earlier than she expected. She comes from a dark place, and now is determined to make sure no one goes there ever again. While trying to do this, she must find out whether the only reason she didn't relieve herself of her soul is alive.
When a complicated and powerful family merges paths with her and the organization she built from the ashes of the evil it once housed, will she be able to contain the trouble that threatens to burst out? Will the only people she holds close to her heart stay the same? Will her heart ever learn to stop its stupid fluttering when she is in the presence of a certain handsome man?
Add a couple of betraying swines, and the tormentors of her past coming knocking on her door, and you've got the perfect recipe for some weird kerfuffle. Million dollar question is- can she handle her emotions? They are but embers now, easy to handle, but is she strong enough to handle the burn when they break out into the magnificent fire they once were? Or will she be forced to douse it? After all, it might just swallow her whole.
