Aspen is a young she-wolf living in the Wildstone wolf pack. Her life is routine, day-to-day hunts, and supporting the pack. Her best friend Charlie, who she's known since she was a pup, may be turning into something more, though they both refuse to admit it.

Gust has always lived comfortably, being in the highest ranks of the Mapleshade raven hierarchy. One action tips the scales, however, when reports of a revolt against their leader, her own uncle, is discovered, led by Gust's older cousin Amelie. Gust soon realizes that it won't take much to bring her family- or her home-- crashing down.

For Cloud, winter is normal for his lodge and the rest of the river otters living in Brookstream. Until disaster strikes, damaging his home and nearly everything he's known. Attempts to seek help continuously fail, and the fact that tensions with Wildstone are high don't help matters.
