Nightmare finally did it. After years of chasing, fighting, and failing, he finally did what he'd always set out to do; he killed Dream. And victory tastes sweet.
Until it doesn't.
Dream may be dead, but positivity sure isn't. Turns out, the Multiverse likes its balance - it took Dream's powers and job and transferred it to another host where it deemed it would be the safest - in Y/N. Nightmare does what anyone would: he goes after them next. But for some strange reason, no matter what he tries, he physically cannot do harm to them.
Confused and still trying to sort out their own problems, Y/N is dragged into Nightmare's world as he struggles to find out how exactly he should kill them.

Dream is trying desperately to both protect (Y/N) and save his brother. But there's no time to save both of them before the Multiverse collapses into chaos. Expectations and a Golden Stitch-A DreamError/Insomnia Fanfic
Dream always felt the weight of expectations on his shoulders and they've only grown worse now that he's a Star Sans. Save this AU, rescue that person, stop Nightmare over there, and make X person smile! It's a never-ending cycle of tasks and he gets asked more about why he hasn't done it sooner or defeated his brother yet than thanked for what he accomplished. He feels trapped in this position and doubts if he didn't have his positive aura that anyone would care for him. Most like him for the joy he brings or what he can give them. Nobody around him ever feels genuine without a doubt in his head. Add in the stress of protecting one Star Sans(Swap) and keeping the other(Ink) from starting trouble and you have a positive guardian ready to break under expectations. Then you have Error, the destroyer of AUs. His reputation speaks for himself and builds all the expectations he needs whenever he steps foot into another AU. He's as bad an omen as a black cat crossing your path. Others assume he is bad because of his "freakish" or glitching appearance. He has accepted these but it gets tiring when he already has the voices bossing him around or Fate reminding him that he should do more destruction. But he doesn't limit himself to destruction. He watches UnderNovela, admires the stars, and appreciates what he can. He pushes the limits of what is expected of him or disregards them completely. A trait that Dream eventually finds himself admiring in him, the known enemy of his friend. He knows that Error's feelings are genuine since he doesn't change in his presence(still an angry manchild). So when Dream gets wounded and stuck with Error on a whim, where will it take them? Will it be a mistake remaining in a hatred of enemies or will it change them both for the better? Could this admiration open Error up to corrupting Dream or will he be the influence Dream needs to against expectations and live for himself?Complete
Break the cycle
The Multiverse for a long time has been an endless loop. Both inside the AUs and in itself. Error and Ink making a truce then breaking it in any possible way. The Dreamtale twins fight until Nightmare dies and Dream sacrifices his soul to plant a new tree of Feelings recreating a cycle. But, among everyone, there is one person who remembers each loop that took place and after a few centuries of trying to figure out what to do, he finally got it. He will break those endless cycles and try to finally give the Multiverse some peace. This is the story of that attempt. But don't worry, I throw in so many subtle/not-so-subtle intimate moments with all the Sanses that it makes it worth the wait :D - I'll throw in some bonus chapters with the other Sanses for extra (non-canon) fluff that doubles as a breather from the story, too - Is the relationship toxic? Maybe. I mean, this is canon Nightmare after all. But that's the beauty of a fictional story, no? - A lot of the symbolism and hidden meanings aren't obvious, so you might have to be on the lookout to see them (and keep in mind: Night doesn't openly show many emotions, so the devil is in the details) - I'm not going to spoil anything, but for all you anxious readers out there like me, I'll divulge I'm a sucker for happy endings *wink* - It's my interpretation of the characters (kept as canon as possible)Complete
