Highlanders myths, and the songs by the people of Scotland and Ireland that they sing in Gaelic have inspired these short stories.

I always use selkies as a way of speaking my truth. Selkies are humanoid creatures who can shapeshift between human and seal form, but they can only do this when their heart is ready and in some cases when they fall in love with a human.

I wrote The Selkie and the Wheelchair for a magazine and I decided to include it as a personal letter, dhuibhse, mo luchd-leughaidh gràdhach [to you, my darling readers].

Silkie

18 parts Complete

Kenna Gale is a beautiful seal maiden (Silkie or Selkie) who lives on the coastline of the Scottish lowlands near the border of Scotland and England. To create another creature like herself, Kenna must make love to a mortal man, then drown a female mortal soul, so that her soul could be reborn inside of Kenna's child. Otherwise, Kenna's child will be a mortal seal pup. This story is shorter than many of my stories, but I think the quality is better.
