In a world where a natural death is beyond unreal, life is anything but predictable. Jackson Taylor, a college student in Portland, Oregon, believed she could take on anything. Gravity couldn't take her when she cliff dived with her friends Saturday nights. Illness would never claim her life if it wanted to, just a minor inconvenience along the line. The Kratz unit couldn't kill her, until one certain day. She had been marked for the government massacre. Indulgence Day. A day instituted by the US government to prevent the international problem of overpopulation in their own borders. Followed by other marked citizens, she will either bring the end to the annual murder of thousands of innocents or live to see the consequences.

We have been on the run for days now. The safety of my children is my priority. I was betrayed in the worst way, and I could not watch him hurt us any longer. I never saw my life going this way but here I am running for my life and my children's. This was the last bus stop, and I had a choice to make. I hope that I would not make the wrong one. He could find us at any moment and I imagine him dragging me all the way back by my hair. I didn't know who to trust but sometimes you just have to take a leap. Maybe, with a little luck, I will find the one thing I have been missing and be saved. One could dream, but for now, I'll keep running.
