"One can whisper sweet nothings for the rest of their lives. Focus on the guests and the rituals for tonight," one of Sanyam's uncles teased, drawing their attention to their surroundings.

Sanyam rolled his eyes at the uncle's comment, while Adhira, playing the dutiful bride, resisted the urge to scowl and kept her gaze lowered, waiting for instructions from the people around them.

He frowned when she looked down and said, "He meant for us not to speak. You don't need to look down for that."

She grinned, still not looking up, and replied, "There's no way I could stay quiet if I'm looking at you. You know, I have so many things to tell you."

He chuckled and said, "When have you not?"

She didn't say anything, just chuckled and continued to look down as the people around them prepared for the Varmala ceremony.

He spoke, not liking that she wasn't looking at him, "Just look up. This is silly."

She sighed dramatically and teased, still not looking up, "You're quite the attention seeker."

He rolled his eyes and shrugged, "Well, I'm the groom. It's only fair that I be the center of attention at my wedding, especially your attention."

At that, she did look up, a wide smile on her face, and a faint blush that was concealed by her makeup. She said, "Oh, aren't you being a charmer tonight. They told us not to speak."

He shrugged with a smile and told her, "Just look at me and don't talk."
