"Some are raised weak, others are born to it. Let's find out which you are, shall we?"

Synne Montaigne was a burgeoning academic with high hopes of succeeding in medical school. Science was all she had to turn to when her father died of a heart attack 4 years prior.

Hypoxia. Myocardial infarction. Cardiac arrest. Science and medicine were conceivable.

Humdrums, vampyres, and magik were not.

The facts were the only thing to make sense to her in a senseless death. When Synne is abducted, held at wand-point in The Baron's manor, and told to face her fate as a Mancer, she is more than skeptical about magik. Synne quickly finds herself on a deadly timeline and is forced to accept the help of a vampyre, a fae, and a necromancer to hone her powers before they implode and kill her. In order to save her own life, as well as countless others, she must move past her own traumas and embrace the unknown.

"Adira, how did you get in?" He started. Holding up a silver object she waved it about and placed it on a coffee table, he remembered the spare key that was hidden under the doormat. "Well I'm glad we were finally able to find you, Leyana has been going crazy trying to find you, we know you couldn't have gone far without turning back so we waited." Again he met silence, no words coming from her side of the room, her face looked tortured, her corneas were red with blood vessels irritated and the area around her eyes were damp and tired. She tried her best to appear everything except emotional but she failed miserably, when she looked him in the eyes he almost shivered from the ferocity held in the honeyed orbs. When she fell onto the couch he knew something was wrong. Crossing the space between them in a matter of seconds and kneeling in front of her he rested a hand on her quivering thigh. "Adira, what's wrong? Has something happened?" The far away look told him he was dealing with something that he had no idea how to, she couldn't focus on him, she didn't even meet his eyes. She simply looked forward and swallowed the bile of emotion rising in her throat. Cupping her cheeks in his hand he made her look at him, glassy eyes barely made their way to him until she snapped onto his vision, focused emotions intensified on the dark blue eyes that filled with concern. "What am I Kalmin?" A tortured whisper of a voice. ___ Adira Levrin was born Lord of the (Secret) Society of the Southern states of America. She'd spent many years playing in this forest as a child. While Selene had enjoyed her novels in the warmth of the house, a blanket wrapped around her narrow shoulders, Sidra always came home covered in mud and scrapes from hours out in the wilderness. She'd take an axe out into the forest and pretend to fight off monsters, the terrifying Mystics that her grandmother had told her stories about. She'd pretend to fight Lycans, knocking out their massive teeth one by one. She'd stand atop rocks and throw her axe at the trees, pretending they were wood nymphs come to steal her away. She'd always return home and tell Selene about the monsters she'd fought that day, spinning together a story of courage and bravery for her little sister. She felt that pain in her heart again as she thought of those times. Through the years, she'd stop going into the woods to play, and she'd instead find stories for Selene. Books of all sizes and shapes, no matter the content, because it made her feel close to her sister just as she had before her parents died. She thought of her family now, how she was all alone. Her parents had been gone for years, her grandmother, and now even Selene was missing somewhere. She needed to find her sister, she couldn't lose the last bit of her family. **
