Ever since the virus outbreak 7 years ago, society has been holding onto the ways of the past by a thread. And what the public doesn't know is that despite the military having begun to mold the next generation of fighters against walking corpses and all other things supernatural, they're losing the fight and are going to need a miracle- or a cure- to finally take back what they've lost.
Which is when Jack Kaine has a dumb, ridiculous idea that has little to no chance of succeeding- he seeks out an unstable, tempermental teenage criminal locked away for murder; whom just so happens to be an expert in survival and fighting demons and the undead. She's seemingly one of humanity's best hope for the future, but humanity needs to be reminded that expertise comes from experience, and Layna Knight's the biggest know-it-all there is. In order for Layna to do her part, she's gonna need to learn how to leave her ghosts in the past, which is kind of difficult when they can come back from the dead and follow you around.
