Madeline had been in the Glade for a while now, but she still has yet to realize what being there can actually do to a person's mind. Once her best friend, Newt, experiences a mental and physical change about the 'ways of living' in the Glade, she begins to worry. As she watches Newt progress, she wonders why any of this is happening. Why? Why Newt, out of all people, had to go through this. Will he become sane again? Or will Madeline have to struggle through watching her best friend fall apart.
