Imagine a world where souls rest on shelves, constantly on the verge of shattering.

Every human has a soul, and, in the Orbs Hall, those souls are documented in glass orbs. Only Seers can read them, and Settlers hold the responsibility of protecting the souls by battling the demonic Shades who threaten to destroy them.

Guinevere James was trained by her mother to be a Settler from the age of eight years old, traversing the mystical realm of the Orbs Hall while living in the earthly world of the Peripherals. However, battling the dark, demonic forces that threaten the Orbs is hardly easy, especially when the death of her best friend and comrade forces her to move to middle-of-nowhere Tennessee. Now, she's thrust into the world of historical Civil War battles, southern boys who seem to be hiding secrets, and the issue of the Orbs, which are shattering at an alarming rate and causing more human deaths than previously recorded. When Guinevere begins to be held responsible for these deaths and placed under suspicion from the leaders of the Orbs hall, she rushes to put together the clues left behind by her dead comrade that point to the fact that the world of Seers, Settlers, and the Orbs Hall may not be what it claims to be.

In order to honor the death of her former partner, Guin struggles to unravel the many mysteries ahead of her before she can be framed for the destruction of all she holds dear.

As long as people believed that there was a division between the Gifted and the non-Gifted, that one was superior to the other, I wasn't done.
