Lord Garmadon and the Sons of Garmadon plan to take over Ninjago. To give the city its true Emperor. Garmadon defeats the Green Ninja and crushes the hope of the citizens of Ninjago, forcing them to kneel to their new leader.
Though, unbeknownst to them, a figure lurks from the shadows planning to claim Ninjago as their own. This causes a war between 2 evil forces to spark within the city. Both competing for rulership, leaving the Resistance to not only defeat both forces, nut to also stop the chaos that has been brought apon Ninjago.
Old faces return. New ones appear. Loyalties and switched. Secrets are revealed...

A whole year has passed after Nya's sacrifice. Many of the Ninja had deserted from the team to do their own personal things, however that wouldn't last too long when they all learn about a Herald buying vengestones and recruiting old villains. And although the powerful Sea Serpent Wojira has been defeated, an even greater and more dangerous power will soon emerge from the shadows and threaten to bring peace in the dark.
