This story plays in the future. After multiple wars the world slowly collapses and some people gather. They shield a few countries from the attacks and built the kingdoms in a barrier that protects them from the toxicity of the air after the wars.
These countries, like Maya, work peacefully with a royal family but with a council which represents the people.
(the idea of the world is inspired by "Royal", but not the story;)

I had fallen head over heels in love with Hera King. I couldn't sleep without her by my side so I hadn't had much sleep in days. I couldn't breath without seeing her smile.
