I stared into the soulless eyes of a stranger, his breath still heavy with the metallic scent of blood as he held me firmly against the frigid brick wall. A sob escaped me as I noticed the lifeless body of a woman lying just behind him.

A hand as cold as ice gently brushed away my tears, the touch sending shivers down my spine. "Ignore the deceased, Devora. It's impolite to gawk," came a deep yet surprisingly soft voice that echoed in my ears. I managed to choke out, "Please...Please don't harm me."

I could feel his proximity, smell the overpowering cologne that enveloped him, and feel the smoothness of his lips planting a tender kiss on my forehead. Flinching, I felt his firm grip on my jaw, forcing me to meet the piercing gaze of his golden eyes. A mischievous grin spread across his face as he spoke in that deep, captivating voice. "I have no intention of ending your life. I have been searching for you for the past two millennia, my beloved."
