Jay didn't feel like talking and it seemed neither did the boy who was curled into himself. Jay just laid back down on his side and faced the other direction. He hated that this was happening to him, that he was just given up by his mom and shoved in a cage like an animal. The boy felt numb, an uncommon feeling to have for a six year old, like nothing mattered anymore. His mother gave him up and his home was so far behind him now. Has much has these thought taunted Jay to cry he could not after how much he had cried already. He felt drained and tired. Jay does not remember falling asleep but being woken up from people shouting around him had told him so. The boy panicked and took a quick moment to assess what was going on and the first thing Jay had noticed was that the other kid was still beside him in a separate cage. They were also outside between a dirt path and a canopy, and there where people everywhere. Some where at other canopies looking at stuff. The shouting he had heard was just a bunch of people talking over each other. The kid was now only in shorts which brought Jay's attention to the fact that he was no longer wearing his ducky onesie but also shorts.

16 year old Harley Jenson has never had an easy life. With an alcoholic, drug addicted, abusive father; a mother who couldn't be bothered to pay attention because she was always too focused on Harley's 5 year old twin brother and sister; no friends, no one to confide in, no one to trust. For the sake of her mother and siblings, Harley has always been at the receiving end of her father's.... Outbursts. Never talking unless she was forced to, so that she didn't accidentally let anything slip out. Hiding her body under long sleeved shirts, jackets, long pants, and concealer, so no one could see the evidence. Pushing people away, so they wouldn't get close, so they wouldn't get hurt. These are her defences. Not only for herself, but for everyone. However, after one night of her father inviting his friends over to have a 'sleepover' with Harley, as he'd arranged dozens, if not hundreds of times before, something happens that Harley had never even thought to fear. Now, her defences will gradually become less and less efficient. What will she do when the clothes and makeup can no longer hide the evidence? What about when people start trying to force their way in, despite her pushing them back? And how about when she gets forced to talk? All her years of carefully hiding herself in the background, staying in the shadows so no one would give her a second glance, are all being threatened. What can she do? ~~~~~~WARNING: This story contains strong language, drug use, sexual and physical abuse, and topics/situations that may be triggers for some people.~~~~~~ © Copyright 2014 All rights reserved
