16-year-old Aschandra Raylor does not like conflict.Never has, never will. She's content with staying in her pacifistic coastal town. She doesn't mind living with her Citizen Number tattooed on her wrist, just like everyone else in the country of Kitemno. The number-based Class System is just another part of life, as common as waking up in the morning or feeling cold in the winter. She doesn't mind the bi-annual Provings where the government makes sure that no citizens are "Specials", people with mysterious powers and abilities who were responsible for the Continental War.She doesn't mind. But when her brother Chaid joins a rebel organization and Ascha is shortly whisked away to join one herself, she has to make an important decision.
She knows she is not a Regular.
Should she put everyone in this new place at risk?
And if she already has, will she fight for them?
Will she be able to finish strong?

I stay invisible to everyone except my best friend Jessica Fawk; no one in the school even knows that I am the sister of the school football team's captain. Then one day when I come home I discover something I never thought I would encounter. I decide that the bullying has to stop. When Evita starts asking questions Evelyn Sheer, the head of the city's Department of Energy, takes her captive and places her in a secret, underground research facility. Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem.
