Entry for Wattpad's first low fantasy short story contest! This piece also acts as a stand alone short story and/or as a prequel for Blood and Ivy.

The year is 1866 in the United States and the transcontinental railroad is being expanded through the Sierra Nevada mountains. Orphan and outcast Simon McCormick has been reassigned to work on the tunnel, but the only way he will make it out alive is if he dies first.

Not all the stories are holiday themed You might notice that there are no names mentioned anywhere in the book. This is simply because I suck at thinking of names for book characters. Every prompt has its own genre (science fiction, horror, fantasy, etc.) and the stories are no longer than a 1000 words.
