It was a dark and stormy night. Phillip had been driving home from work, and was now about an hour away from his house. He had made it the last few miles, but was now in the throes of a full-blown panic attack. His breaths came in short gasps and his heart was pounding so hard, it felt like it was trying to escape his chest. He pulled to the side of the road, scattering gravel, and tried to calm himself. He closed his eyes and took several deep breaths before starting the car. He crept along the road, his car the only light in a wide and dark world. The rain continued to beat against the windshield like the footsteps of some unseen thing. Suddenly, Phillip's car was illuminated by bright headlights. A truck had pulled up behind him, and the driver was honking his horn. Phillip's heart rate spiked again and he began to hyperventilate. The truck driver got out of his vehicle and came to Phillip's window. "Are you alright?" the man asked. Phillip shook his head, unable to speak. "It's alright," the truck driver said. "I'll just follow you home. You're not going to be able to make it the rest of the way by yourself." Phillip nodded and put his car into drive. He crept along the road, the truck following close behind. When he finally made it to his driveway, he let out a sigh of relief. He got out of his car and turned to the truck driver. "Thank you so much," he said. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't come along." "Don't mention it," the truck driver said. "Just be more careful next time." Phillip watched as the truck drove away, then he turned to go into his house. As he did, he saw a movement out of the corner of his eye. He turned to see a large, furry creature standing in the shadows, watching him. Phillip's heart rate spiked again and he let out a scream before running into his house and slamming the door shut. It wasn't until he was safe inside that he realized the creature had been a deer.
